Join our call to Protect Badgers
One of the country’s most iconic and most protected wild animals is being destroyed.
Urged on by the National Farmers Union, what started as a four-year trial killing 70% of badgers in limited areas has now swelled into an all-out attack
Already killed in huge numbers on our roads and facing illegal sett destruction at the hands of developers and fox hunts, the badger is at serious risk of becoming little more than a memory.
By the end of 2023, around 250,000 badgers had already been killed .
And all to allegedly protect the dairy industry from bovine Tb – a disease of cattle
Scapegoating badgers is not the answer to solving an industrial disease.
Destroying precious wildlife when we are already one of the most nature-depleted countries on the planet is madness.
Protect the Wild will never stand by while this slaughter of badgers is taking place.
Which is why we’re fighting back:
We have commissioned a series of powerful animations designed to highlight the cruelty and futility of the badger cull.
Through our Equipment Fund we’re proud to have been providing trail cams and night vision optics to front-line groups taking direct action in the field to protect badgers.
We’re syndicating the blog posts of the Badger Crowd – a team of specialised ecologists and scientists who focus on badgers and the cull.
We created Protectors of the Wild, a free resource that looks in detail at the laws protecting badgers and other animals. Protectors explains what we can do if we see a wildlife crime taking place.
And we are now calling on an incoming Labour government to honour its promise to stop the badger cull. Join us and sign a letter to the Shadow Environment Secretary today!
