About Us

Protect the Wild is one of the UK’s most fearless, principled voices for animals. We exist to fight for British wildlife and to bring an end to bloodsports — from hunting with hounds and the shooting of birds, to the government’s relentless badger cull. We stand up for urban wildlife too, campaigning for every fox, hedgehog, bird, and badger that calls this country home.
We are bold. We are outspoken. And we do everything legally permissible to create a better future for wild animals in the UK.

The Role

We’re looking for a Social Media Manager who shares our passion and determination to make a difference. With over 1 million followers across our platforms, social media is at the heart of how we campaign, inspire, and mobilise support.

This role is about more than just managing channels — it’s about leading the conversation online, generating powerful ideas, and turning them into highly engaging content that cuts through. You’ll help drive our campaigns into the public eye, shine a spotlight on injustice, and amplify the movement for wildlife protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Protect the Wild’s social media channels, ensuring our voice is bold, consistent, and impactful.
  • Generate ideas and create engaging, resonant content to support campaigns and actions.
  • Produce graphics, short-form videos, and other content to grow reach and engagement.
  • Be responsive to news, trends, and opportunities to make our voice heard in the online space.
  • Collaborate with our campaigns and media team to ensure content drives real-world change.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a creative, intuitive, and committed individual who thrives in a fast-paced campaigning environment. You will be:

  • Passionate about protecting animals and aligned with our mission to end hunting, shooting, and the badger cull.
  • Experienced in graphics and content creation, with strong knowledge of Adobe Suite (or similar).
  • Skilled in short-form video editing and production (e.g. TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts).
  • Knowledgeable about social media trends, with the ability to create content that stands out.
  • Autonomous — confident working independently, but collaborative when needed.
  • Campaign-aware — with experience in animal rights or social justice campaigns (desirable but not essential).
  • Curious and committed — with a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow with the role.

What We Offer

  • A salary of £35,000+ depending on experience.
  • A primarily remote role
  • The chance to work with a small but fearless team, where your ideas and creativity will have a direct impact.
  • An opportunity to use your skills to stand up for animals and help build a future free from cruelty.

How to Apply

If you’re ready to put your creativity and digital skills to work for animals, we’d love to hear from you.
