Today is the day I walk 24 hours straight for British wildlife

So it’s the 1st of September, usually on the first of each month we run our £1 donation day where we ask supporters to donate a pound to keep us ticking over. But today is a little different. Right now I am stood opposite Parliament (photo taken just now!) about to take on a pretty tough challenge. Starting in 15 minutes time I will be walking continuous laps of Parliament for 24 hours straight, taking me all the way to 11am tomorrow morning.

I am doing this not because I want to but because I feel a desperate sense of anger and frustration at how little action is being taken by those in the building in front of me. This Govt has been in power over a year now and we’ve seen no progress for British wildlife, just policies and laws that will literally make things worse for animals. From the continuation of the Badger cull, the disastrous Planning and Infrastructure Bill or the painfully slow progress to end hunting for good.

I am sick of the status quo that puts everything else above animals. So this 24 hour walk is a protest walk. It is a symbolic reminder that Protect the Wild is not going anywhere, that animal lovers are not going anywhere, and that compassionate people will not stop until we see the end of bloodsports and the suffering of wildlife.

It’s gonna be mentally and physically challenging but I walk in the knowledge that we are building an army of like-minded people fighting for what’s right. And I am so thankful to have you in my corner and for supporting the work that the brilliant team at Protect the Wild takes on.

If you’re reading this and would like to chuck a pound into the fundraiser that would be amazing! We’re on track to reach our goal of 24,000 pounds for 24 hours working non-stop for British wildlife.

There will be updates every few hours across the Protect the Wild socials so you can check on my progress! See you on the other side! 🙂

Thank you
