Dear MP,

I am writing as your constituent to urge you to attend the upcoming parliamentary debate on ending the badger cull, which will be scheduled following the government petition launched by Protect the Wild that has now passed over 100,000 signatures.
This debate matters greatly. The badger cull has been running for more than a decade, with over 230,000 badgers killed, yet it has failed to deliver meaningful progress on tackling bovine TB. Farmers have been sold false solutions, while wildlife has paid the price.
The recently published Godfray Review highlights important recommendations, including increased cattle testing and the wider use of gamma interferon testing. However, it still falls back on blaming badgers, despite mounting evidence that cattle-to-cattle transmission is the overwhelming driver of the disease.
I urge you to look closely at the findings from Gatcombe Farm, which exposed just how inadequate our current testing system is. Undiagnosed cattle remain in herds and continue spreading infection, undermining all attempts at control. Without more accurate testing, tighter cattle movement restrictions, and stronger biosecurity measures, TB will never be brought under control.
As my elected representative, I am asking you to:

Attend the parliamentary debate on the badger cull when it is scheduled.

Speak up for cattle-based measures that will actually address TB, including better and more accurate testing.

The badger cull has been one of the greatest policy failures of modern agriculture. It has wasted public money, prolonged the TB crisis, and caused mass cruelty to wildlife. It must end now.
