20 Years of Failure. One Chance to End It.
Join the Campaign to End Hunting for Good
Hunting with dogs was meant to be banned 20 years ago. But two decades after the Hunting Act came into force, our latest annual hunting report exposes a grim reality: hunts across the UK are still chasing and killing wild animals and the law is still failing to stop them.
In the 2024/25 season alone, Protect the Wild analysed 1,680 observed hunt meets. We found recordable offences at 65% of them. Wildlife was pursued, injured, and killed. Roads were blocked, traffic endangered, communities disturbed, and activists attacked. Even members of the public were not spared.
This is the reality of an activity that’s supposedly illegal.
Trail hunting is a smokescreen and everyone knows it.
For years, hunts have hidden behind the excuse of ‘trail hunting’ to carry on their cruelty. Our data proves this deception is not occasional — it’s widespread and systematic. Loopholes in the law have let them get away with it for far too long.
Now, for the first time in over 20 years, the government is promising a public consultation on hunting. But a ban on trail hunting alone isn’t enough. We need bold reform. We need a law that actually works.
We’re demanding a Hunting Act that:
Closes all loopholes exploited by hunts
Bans trail hunting outright, ending the cover story once and for all
Holds hunters accountable for “accidental” kills and reckless hunting
Introduces custodial sentences for those who break the law, bringing justice for wild animals in line with protections for domestic ones
This is our moment. Join the campaign.
We’re preparing for the biggest mobilisation in two decades:
🦊 Up to 1 million leaflets distributed across England and Wales
🎬 A powerful new film on cub hunting
📣 Targeted ads, mass actions, and nationwide outreach
But to make it count — we need you.
