UPDATE: Stop the Planned Pigeon Cull at The Academy Development in Woolwich

UPDATE: Thanks to the thousands of you who took action to help the pigeons, we can confirm that the planned pigeon cull at The Academy Development in Woolwich has been successfully stopped.

Pigeon culling is widely recognised as ineffective. Removing birds from an area does not reduce numbers in the long term, because food sources and nesting sites remain. This simply allows other pigeons to move in, or for remaining birds to breed more successfully—creating a cycle of killing that fails to address the root cause.

We were contacted by the Area Director, who confirmed:

“As the Area Director responsible for The Academy in Woolwich, I am writing to inform you that the cull scheduled for today was cancelled.

We are committed to finding alternative solutions to address the issue and will be working closely with our leaseholders and client to develop a different approach.”

This is a powerful reminder that collective action works. Thank you for standing up for wildlife 💚
