We, the undersigned, call on the South Downs National Park Authority to REFUSE planning permission for the proposed conversion of redundant farm buildings at Blackwool Farm into seven units of private bespoke accommodation for countryside “sporting activities”, as submitted by Vinnie Jones.

National Parks Exist to Protect Wildlife — Not to Facilitate Shooting Tourism

The South Downs National Park has a statutory duty to conserve and enhance wildlife, landscape, and public enjoyment of nature. Developing a private shooting lodge within its boundaries directly conflicts with these purposes.

The area around Blackwool Farm supports bats, dormice, nightingales, rare insects, and ancient woodland ecosystems. These species are already under significant pressure from habitat fragmentation, agricultural intensity, and increased human disturbance.

A development designed to accommodate shooting parties — however it is phrased in planning language — adds further strain to wildlife that should be protected, not exploited.

National parks belong to the nation. They are places for walking, nature recovery, education, tranquillity, and public access.

They are not places for commercialised bloodsports or luxury shooting retreats.

Approving this planning application would hand over part of our shared national landscape to a tiny, wealthy minority at the direct expense of the wildlife the National Park Authority is legally bound to protect.

We Urge the National Park and Chichester District Council to Uphold their Duty:
