What is the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show trying to hide?

Protect the Wild is campaigning with Action Against Foxhunting to ask
‘What is the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show trying to hide?’

Held at the The Turnpike Showground the annual Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show typically welcomes over 20,000 visitors.

Some of them will be amongst the 85% of people who regularly tell pollsters that they want fox, hare, and stag hunting completely banned.

But we’ve been told by Show organisers that hunts will be at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show!

Which hunts? We don’t know because show organisers won’t tell us!

And there is not a single mention of the hunts on the Show’s official website – not one!

‘Country shows’ are important fundraisers for hunts.

Many hunts are in finacial difficulties as more and more people refuse to be associated with them.

In fact, hunts are so toxic that even Shows that invite them to parade don’t seem keen to mention them on their websites!

That’s right, a week out from the start of the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show there is NO MENTION AT ALL on the Show’s website that hunts will be attending!

We only know they’re coming because we asked.

Organisers have the right to invite who they want to their Show,

but the ticket-buying public also has a right to know what they are paying for!

With our colleagues at Action Against Foxhunting we have written an email letter that you can send to the organisers of the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show

It is asking that full details of which hunts will be attending, what they will be doing, and how long they will be at the Showground are added to their website.

REMEMBER the Show starts on August 16th
